Education and Experience

I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 40 years of experience in both public mental health and private practice, treating individuals, couples and families.  My specialties range from Couples’ Communication Skills, to Depression and Anxiety as well as Addiction and Codependency.

I received my Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Nevada in 1970 and my M.A. psychology degree at the University of Toledo in 1964.  I was a pre-doctoral intern at Patton State Hospital of California from 1969-1970, and a post-doctoral intern at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Palo Alto, California from 1970-71.

I worked 31 years with the Santa Clara County Mental Health Services until retiring from that organization in 2003.  During that time I performed a variety of outpatient services, although mostly it consisted of teaching psychology graduate students/interns how to successfully treat the more complicated diagnostic patients who came to County Mental Health in a state of crisis.

Following that tenure, I worked 5 years on a part-time basis in Valley Medical Center’s Rehabilitation Psychology program for the Burn Center, Pedi Rehab, Spinal Cord Injury and Traumatic Brain Injury.

In addition, during much of this time I maintained a private psychotherapy practice seeing a variety of clientele.  I have been licensed as a Psychologist in California (PSY 3936) since 1973.

Lastly, I am a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist affiliated with the Imago Relationships International Institute a public charity organization who’s mission is to transform relationships in the world.   They teach key insights into how relationships work and the effective use of dialogue skills,  both directly and in partnership with others.
